File This Under: Too Cool.

by Tom Lucas

The other day I hit Post #100. It kind of snuck up on me. 100 posts – this has been a prolific year, and there are still two months and change to go.

I decided not to set off fireworks in the backyard, but I’d be lying if I didn’t smooth my eyebrows a bit.

Last week, Debb over at Sunshine Factor was kind enough to think of me and nominated me for the Reality Blog Award. I’ve been following Debb since day one of her blog, and it has been pretty cool to see her blog grow (and change themes on a weekly basis – just kidding).

Thanks for thinking of me Debb. This is only my second blog award, and I am honored that you would send it my way.

As is the nature of these awards, there are questions to answer and some nominees to name…so let’s rock.

Questions and Answers:
1) If you could change something what would you change?
I’d create a bullshit tax. Perhaps it’s just because of the current political climate, but I have had it with all the bullshit. I am fairly certain that’s why old people are so damn cranky – they have reached their life’s limit on bullshit. So, by placing a bullshit tax in place, we will generate serious revenue for the government as well as reduce the amount of bullshit in our daily lives – thus allowing for happy, golden years for all. I’m just going to say bullshit one more time because I don’t think this response mentions bullshit enough.

2) If you could repeat an age, what age would it be?
Honestly, I don’t want to repeat a single day of my life, but I would like to be endowed with the energy I had at age 23. Man, could I tear it up. Now I just feel tired most of the time.

3) What one thing really scares you?
Stupid people. They are fucking everywhere.

4) What one dream have you not completed yet and do you think you will be able to complete it.
The obvious answer would be writing my novel. But that’s done and on the verge of being on the market. So, the dream will be a speaking appearance at ComicCon. That would make me feel pretty special.

5) If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?
The guy who plays Thor in the Avengers movie. I know of someone special that would probably enjoy that quite a bit.

Now, time to share the love. I am nominating FIVE awesome blogs for my round, because I want to show you that I am a man of discerning taste.

To the nominees: You can decide how you would like to participate. There are no rules for this award, so you can follow this format, create another with your own questions, or simply just accept the award and nominate a few other blogs that you like. Or don’t. It’s all good.

Most of these awesome bloggers have been in my trust tree from the first days of blogging and I am damn proud to know them. There’s many more folks out there that I would take a bullet for, but I will save them for the next opportunity I have to acknowledge their awesomeness.

Congratulations and thanks for nominating me. I love reading the ‘things about you’ part of the awards. I’m with you on not wanting to do any age over. Been there done that I say. Onward and upward!

I tell people that I don’t really accept awards. I do thank you for thinking of me.

    See you soon!

It’s a strange feeling, investing so much time and energy into a blog and then, suddenly, you find you’ve reached a small anniversary, arrived at a point many simply don’t get too. Most blogs tend to fail within three months, through a lack of interest, a lack of feedback, a lack of time. One hundred is a good marker, though, and I remember mine well. I did a little dance when I went through the one thousand mark, and over one million views. But the main thing is not so much these figures, it is the writing, and the pleasure we gain along the way.

Great thoughts, and aside from the fun I am having with my blog there are days that it is the reason I keep on going.

That I can well understand. For some people a blog is literally a lifeline, for others it is a welcome retreat. Just as long as the fun remains, the topics will never dry up.

Excellent thoughts to begin my day.

Hey Tom, glad you liked your award. Now you just have to tell me how I can paste the graphic to my blog for my award! (Seriously) I also have been traumatized by not being able to post the “Postaday” graphic to my blog; I have followed their directions, but nothing. Also, Zemanta is not working anymore! …. You guys should know that Tom was my very first follower, who I was just thrilled by when he signed on! I said “OMG” all day that day! :)

And you know, folks, Tom is actually right about my changing my theme VERY often. :) I THINK I’m set for now, but if I start posting to Kindle, then maybe I will use the theme that says “good for magazines or professional blogs”…whatever, right?! Love, Debb

So much to look forward to, no doubt! The way I have placed my Awards is ez-pz. First, copy the image on to your computer. Now upload it to your media library. You’ll get a URL. Copy that. Now, go to widgets, and pull the image widget over to where you want it. Knowing you, you’ll do some tweaking and playing around with it :) Open up the widget drop down and paste the code from your image here. Update and you’re cooking! I look forward to seeing many awards appear on your home page :)

Ta-da! The infallible Mr. Lucas again helps a struggling blogger! Tom, your advice was so ACCURATE and easy to follow. I now have the image as a widget AND gave it its own page. Hope readers don’t think I’m bragging now! And…I am sure the directions will also work for the 2012 Postaday Badge, too, once I can find it! It’s not in the first layer of the help pages, but once I find it – look out! :) And yes, I look forward to receiving more awards too! (My dream is to get Freshly Pressed, of course, but that will take some doing, I am sure.) Anyways, THANK You again and may you sleep well tonight, knowing that you are so cool, like your blog shows.
        Rock on, brother! Debb
