Why do you Write?

Anais knew how to get you hot and bothered.

If you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don’t write, because our culture has no use for it.
Anais Nin

Sober thoughts in a time when something like 50 Shades of Grey sells a shitton of copies. They are crap books filled with crap writing. Pure pablum.

Read Anais Nin instead. Actually challenge your brain…and your heart.

  1. I never understood the hype of 50 shades….I’ve never read it. Doubt very much I will. Come for a visit if your interested in reading a lot about nothing. 🙂 jlroeder.wordpress.com thanks!

  2. I have also never heard of her. But after reading about her on Wikipedia I can’t wait to learn more! Would you suggest starting with her diaries? Or with one of her novels?

    1. You pretty much can’t go wrong with either choice…although I typically read a novel from an author before the autobiographical work. I think it’s a great way to gain insight on the creative work.
