A werewolf story — something I would normally choose to write, but…in doing research for another project, I came across the legend of the loup garou, the French take on the wolf-man.
And what was even more fun to me was that my hometown of Detroit had all kinds of loup garou stories from back in its early French, fur-trappin’ days.
I was inspired, and fortunately for me, there was an open call for stories for an anthology of werewolf tales. So off it went.
The book never happened. This is not an uncommon thing. So the story went into cold storage. For a good while too.
Then one of my writer buddies, Matthew Vaughn (check out The ADHD Vampire — it’s hilarious) and his brother decided to put together a fun movie monsters anthology and launch a new indie press at the same time (Red All Over Books). And it found a home.
