Alternatives

There are other worlds
Other places
Other times
Where I am someone else
Someone better
Someone worse
Richer
Poorer
Sicker
Imprisoned
Crippled
Celebrated
Hated
Legendary
Unknown
Or
Already dead.

I’d like to travel to these places.
I’d like to meet these other Toms.

Maybe they could teach me something.

Or maybe I will teach them.

I Performed in a Tattoo Shop.

Recently I performed at a tattoo shop with several other talented writers.

Here is the evidence. Enjoy.

Present and Accounted For

It’s been a tough rough time of it

I’ve had some setbacks and

Push forwards

Now

It seems to be coming around again

I just have to kick a little ass

Real quick

And I should be back to

Where I was

Supposed to be

About

Now.

I’m so ready!

I Wonder If I Will Read This

There are a few versions of me running around these days.

There’s the guy I used to be.

There’s the guy before that, who nobody liked, who has lately been using my body.

There’s the true me, the man I am supposed to be.

There’s the guy that’s trapped, brain and heart frozen. He’s the guy that wakes up every morning.

There’s the guy that everyone thinks I am. He’s nowhere to be seen (by me).

I’ve been frozen for a while now. Stuck in a place, like a ghost, haunting all the spots.

This was the year that I split into shards.

I don’t think anyone noticed. I think that’s a good thing.

I hope I can find them all, scattered across the many lives that I live.

I will pick them up, one by one, and catalog them.

I will coat them with glue and stick them together and make a whole.

If the glue dries well, you will hardly get to see the cracks.

Where the broken pieces of me have fused.

But don’t push on the pieces or they may break into many more.

Whispers

whisper

I’d tell you a secret
But I don’t trust the walls
They lean in when I start to speak.

I’d tell you a secret
But I think you already know
What I am going to say.

I’d tell you a secret
But then
I wouldn’t know

What to do next.

You Are Big. I Am Small.

lion

You have exhausted me
I am a shell of a man
Enduring your endless
Boasts and hyperbole

You are not unique
I’ve suffered many
Like you before
Chest bowing crowing

I wonder what
Tragic event unfolded
To make you like this
What great legend speaks

I don’t understand
The need the want
Of a hole that
You must endlessly fill

You do have my pity
As I groan under my breath
Pausing to let you tell
Another moronic story

Sympathetic, yes
After all we are friends
And I am a man of
Honor and patience

But there are times
When I cannot help
But feel that you are as small
As you make yourself big

That comforts me
Gives me the strength
To fight at your side
Against the maws of the beast

Seeing you as less than
Makes you tolerable
But I cannot help but wonder
If it makes me egotistical instead.
